These eight Video CD (VCD) discs contain the complete run of 24 episodes from the 1981 cartoon series Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends. The cartoon featured Spider-Man teaming up with Iceman and Firestar to battle villains such as Green Goblin, Kraven, Doctor Doom, Chameleon, Electro, Magneto, Mysterio, Loki, Kingpin, Red Skull, Shocker, Juggernaut, Sandman, Dracula, Scorpion, Beetle, and Doctor Octopus. Along the way, the Spider-Friends receive help from other Marvel heroes such as Sunfire, Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and the X-Men.
These cartoon episodes were originally recorded from broadcast TV onto VHS videotape by a fan in the 1980's. They were later transferred from VHS to Video CD. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best), the video and audio quality on these discs would rate close to an 8. Because these were recorded from broadcast TV, you will see the occasional VCR player text such as "record" and "pause" corresponding to the skipping of commercials during recording. That means you'll watch these episodes commercial-free!
Please note that Video CD is not the same as DVD video, although Video CD can be thought of as the precursor to DVD video. Most modern DVD players can play Video CD discs. If your DVD player does not play Video CD discs, then you can simply pop the discs into your computer's CD or DVD drive and play them using Windows Media Player, which fully supports the Video CD format.
You may pick up these Video CD discs from my home in the Finch Ave East & Leslie St neighbourhood of Toronto (North York). If you'd really like to have these discs but cannot drop by for whatever reason, I'm willing to deliver them to your doorstep if you reimburse me with 2 TTC tokens to make the trip possible.
