Manufacturer's Description
The Aserta Eclipse is the next generation of putting instrument technology developed by Aserta Sports. Its advanced design incorporates the best effects of Inverted Mass Technology where the weight is moved to the top of the putter head, putting most of the mass of the putter above the equator of the golf ball. This weight shift imparts immediate topspin on the ball eliminating skidding, sidespin or bouncing. The second advancement has been the dispersion of the weight to the back, sides and face of the putter. Based on extensive research and state of the art robot testing, this re-engineering has produced the most perfectly balanced putter in the industry. Pricing is $199.95 U.S. each.
Aserta Eclipse Review:
We found both the heel-shafted and center-shafted models of the Aserta Eclipse to be easy to align once accustomed to the site lines. The elliptical ball shape alignment mark was useful for long putts and the small arrow alignment mark in the center was found to be useful when focusing on a small target for shorter putts.
We really like the feel of the ball when it comes off the putter face of the Eclipse. If gave the feel that the ball started to roll immediately with minimal skidding or hopping. We found that the Eclipse provided very good distance control on long putts.
The balance of the Eclipse putter is good and we were able to smoothly move the head through impact with no issues keeping the face square. With two versions of the putter, we found that it accommodated both straight-back, straight-through and swing-the-gate putting strokes. The putter is on the light side and we found it performed very well on fast bent grass greens where it a smooth tempo with the Eclipse yielded consistent results.
The Aserta Eclipse is an oversized mallet design with brass alignment aid. The top-weighted design and alignment aid are unique. On occasion, we found that the bright brass alignment aid would produce a distracting glare from the sun if the angle was right. This went away after the putter has been used for a few weeks and the brass slightly dulled. The Eclipse looks good to the eye and offers an excellent Winn putting grip and easy to use small putter cover that we were able to place in our back pocket while putting.
The Aserta Eclipse with its advanced design features receives high marks for its alignment, feel, and balance. The Eclipse was found to be effective at what it was designed to do, get the ball rolling and maintaining the intended line. We also liked the overall performance of this putter. Golfers looking for a mallet-shaped alignment putter for fast greens should benefit from the Aserta Eclipse.
Beautiful hand crafted putter with milled brass putting face which helps control the contact of the Surlyn cover golf balls when making contact by reducing skip and back spin while rolling the ball forward in less time compared to traditional putters.
