I'm sympathetic and as a writer I am well aware of the devaluation caused here. Complain as much as you want, but your complaints probably won't mean much - xxssing against the wind mes amis. Just ask any freelance illustrator what their life has been like over the last five years. You have only two choices - political action (e.g. PWACs or something like it - you are members right?) or finding a different way to scale what you do. If you don't see how you can exploit the devaluation, then you've already missed the boat and it's time to re-train. Illustration is all but dead not because of the devaluation of the creative craft but rather because illustrators spent all their time complaining about instead of reacting to it. Prepared to join 'em?
