Somewhat established/up-and-coming, indie roots/folk/pop band looking for individuals who have and play any 2 of the following: banjo, mandolin, keys/piano, accordion, double bass, lap/pedal steel, trombone, saxophone to play shows in and around Toronto to start.
We already have singer/songwriter and drummer for sure and likely bassist, however if you are an experienced available bass player with your own gear who can follow along/improvise and are willing to travel occasionally for out of town gigs...
Our ideal candidate would be in his or her 20's or 30's, most likely, and hopefully able to sing harmonies and play percussion from time to time.
We are looking to start rehearsing ASAP to focus on gigging in the new year when our (already recorded) new record comes out. Our old banjo/mandolin and keyboard players live too far North and have too many responsibilities to tour.
Versatility is a must. Our styles and influences range from kitsch, swing, old-time gospel blues, country, bluegrass, waltzes, vintage soul, rock and roll, zydeco, Latin styles like mariachi and salsa, and jazz, however most of the progressions are simple 1-4-5 or 1-3-4-5's.
E-mail me I can send you some links before we meet and try the tunes out n person.
