Study the technique created by

David Mamet
and
William H. Macy:

PRACTICAL AESTHETICS

Practical Aesthetics is the simplest and most effective acting technique out there. With it, you’ll be able to analyze any scene so that your acting becomes more truthful, spontaneous, courageous, and fun.

The purpose of Practical Aesthetics is to boil the scene down to its essence, so that you go out on stage or in front of the camera with something to DO. Something active and positive, clear and simple, that you can actually do in real life, in real time, to the other actor, without having to believe, think, or feel anything that isn’t literally true.

If you've analyzed the scene properly, and you're actually acting out your analysis, it feels almost too easy - it feels like you're not doing any work, like the scene is happening all by itself. It becomes fun to act, and most importantly, fun to watch. Learning the technique takes some time, as with learning anything new. But once you get the hang of it, it's so much simpler than any other technique I've come across. And I've never seen it fail. Ever.

Scene study classes start on Tuesday Nov 17 and run Tuesday and Thursday nights, 6:30-10pm, until Dec 10, at Fraser Studios, 115 Danforth Ave. That’s 8 classes for only $300 ($240 for Equity or AAction members.)

“Invent nothing, deny nothing. Accept everything and get on with it.” - David Mamet

Student testimonials:

“I haven’t had this much fun acting in a long time.”
– Rob B.

“Practical Aesthetics is a simple and direct method for an actor to use to take the focus off themselves and put it where it belongs ... on getting what they need moment to moment from their partner. Adam has great instincts, he has a lot of passion for acting and is a real joy to study with.”
- Dan F.

“I really enjoyed your feedback and the time you took to analyze the scene with us. I’ve been in classes where the feedback was maybe 5 minutes and I was still unclear on what to work on for the future and what I did well. Not here.”
- Kathy H.

"This was the best acting class I've taken. Adam has the ability to create a structure that builds on previous exercises. He challenges you to go deeper while upholding essential acting principles that you can use time-and-time again."
- Dominik L., Artistic Director, InspiraTO Festival

About the instructor:

Adam Bradley is a teacher, actor, writer, and producer, and has studied acting techniques all over the world: from Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto, to New York, Denmark, Serbia, Prague, and Bali. He is a graduate of the Atlantic Acting Conservatory in New York, where Practical Aesthetics immediately became the bedrock and core of his approach to acting.
