The Toronto Monologue Slam was created to give actors an alternative outlet to explore and display their craft to friends, colleagues and industry professionals, creating relationships and opportunities that will enrich and may possibly lead to furthering their careers. We also wanted to create a fun event for those of us who love theater and performance and just want a fun night out!!!
This showcase event is about providing a platform for actors to practice their craft and improve their performance skills. Our primary aim is to create an environment where actors can network and support each other but most importantly learn, learn, develop and BE EXTRAORDINARY. Most actors can go 3-5 months without having an audition, which causes nerves and can affect your next audition. So by preparing for our event on the last Monday of every month we have the chance to treat it like a casting. Because lets face it; to perform in front of any audience still requires the effort and discipline you would put in if you had a casting for for the next Steven Spielberg movie.
In our experience and in researching the relevance of this event we have come across many people who have been rather hesitant to participate. Our immediate response to that hesitation is that the event has been created particularly to counter that!!. It is our aim to remove that fear! To enable Actors to be ready for any casting because you have been performing at least once a month! We all know that the best time to land an acting job is either while you are acting in something or just after it. Do you agree? Imagine meeting a Director by chance and they asked you to perform a monologue on the spot and you couldn't because you were scared or didn't have one ready in your head ready to do. . ...Well that's where our event comes in!? If you are constantly taking part in our events you will feel more confident and always have a monologue or two in your head ready to perform.
How does the night actually work?
Monologue Slam is a competition!!!!
Round One
Contestants are given 3 minutes to perform a monologue of their choice. They are encouraged to bring props and costumes that compliment their performance. Six winners, as chosen by our audience, will move on to the next round.
Round Two
The six semi-finalists are given 3 minutes to perform the same monologue but in a different way. The winner of this round will become the reigning Heavy Weight Champ awarded with the title belt, which will be defended at the next match, $100 cash and the prize pack.

This video will explore a very personal issue happening these days amongst teens; cyber bullying. The theme of the video will explore perseverance, inner strength and the ability to move on.
The video will revolve around a 15 year old boy Matt who isn't very popular at school and suffers from horrible abuse online. It will be a hard and even frightening video to watch - but in the end it had to be. Cyber bullying is on the rise, with little to no awareness in the public eye. In addition to the steady music video production slate, The NE will also be producing upcoming shorts for Charles Officer (100 Musicians), Elli Raynai (The LOnely Organist) and RT! (Found).

The post production of dance recitals shot across Canada and the U.S. Each recital is edited, titled and given a DVD menu design.
Edits of montages and any other unique videos as required by our clients.
You will also be assisting with packaging, shipping, graphic design work, capturing of tapes or other media, format conversions, testing, planning, the creation of any necessary training videos, preparation work and support for anyone producing a competition or recital. In addition, management of all capture equipment when it is returned/delployed each weekend (cameras, cables, tripods, laptops, etc.) will be necessary.
It is essential that you have the following skills:
Post production experience

Being completely honest though, it is all based on the online samples in which our Studio will make the decision to contact you. What is mainly important is that you match our aesthetic editing style, even if you don't have much experience... but your sample online provides potential, then we will most definitely contact you immediately as we currently have paying projects that needs to be worked on.
Our Studio is located in Brampton, Ontario and would prefer Editors that live roughly close to the Brampton area. Toronto, Mississauga and GTA surrounding cities can also work, but again... it's based on your online sample in which a final decision will be made in order to proceed with a formal interview or consultation session.
If you have SDE experience, this would also provide to be an asset. If you have Cinema Shooting experience with DSLR's, please reference this in your email as we would also like to see what you've shot via online samples.
Our payments range from $200-$1000, but again depends on the Project. We have set Budgets for Wedding Cinema, but when it comes to Corporate Commercials, the payment for editing ranges based on the corporate clientele's specifications and post-production requirements.

Electrical Knowledge (30%)

Including building custom cables and assist in the fabrication of electrical components if needed. Finally, the ability to troubleshoot when problems arise.
Customer Relations (25%)
Strong customer services skills to maintain a positive relationship with all Clients. As well as to effectively communicate with PSAV Team members, including the ability to direct PSAV employees and assist outside electricians when required to do so. Able to cross train PSAV co-workers and if needed to assist with normal day to day audio visual set-ups/strikes.
