This challenging role will drive solutions for the application delivery plan and related development across the Wealth Management Technology department. Apply vision and strategy to practical solutions for advancing business goals of Wealth Management. Consult on a wide spectrum of existing and emerging infrastructure technologies and associated services and processes. Lead special technical projects.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:
Provide comprehensive senior level technical consulting to other IT senior management and senior technical teams.
Provide subject matter expertise on specific existing technologies related to Wealth Management businesses: Brokerage, Asset Management and Institutional Money Management. Manage the ongoing vitality of the technology throughout its lifecycle.
Perform evaluation, selection and application of new and emerging tools and techniques and support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options.
Evaluate compliance with the organization's technology standards. Analyze market trends and experiences.
Develop roadmaps based on business needs, processes and vision including opportunities to support applications via of shoring and outsourcing models
Monitor application services performance, results and effectiveness to the business
Stay abreast of emerging technical trends and enterprise initiatives to ensure application services reflect appropriate technological developments for competitive business position
Establish and maintain application design patterns to support Wealth business solutions
Produce application/integration solution design artifacts leveraging design patterns and ensure solutions aligned with roadmaps and business vision, practical and cost efficient
Consult on production problems resolution
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Application Development Tools--Knowledge of a variety of specific tools and toolkits for development and support of applications.
Subject Matter Expertise in Wealth Management applications and technology including Brokerage, Asset Management and Institutional Money Management
Working knowledge of Trading systems like Charles Rivers Investment Management System is an asset
Certifications and/or familiarity with IDA, MFDA, IROC or equivalent is an asset

System and Technology Integration--Knowledge of features and facilities for integration and communication among applications, data bases and technology platforms.
IT Environment--Knowledge of organization's total Information Technology (IT) environment.
IT Architecture--Knowledge of concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies.
Consulting--Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques and roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients within and outside own area.
Application Delivery Process--Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new or enhanced applications.
Object Relational Database Systems (ordms)--Knowledge of tools, techniques and practices for design, development and maintenance of relational databases capable of managing object.
Influencing--Ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
JOB SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Analyzing highly complex project and/or technical risk using available information to support business recommendations.
Leading or consulting with vendors, other technology groups and end users to gather requirements and prepare design specifications, completing impact analysis and providing feedback on problems and recommending solutions.
Maintaining subject matter expertise sufficient to provide technical leadership in the development solutions to complex problems.
Making decisions regarding application solutions or technology selection often have to be made in situations where business requirements are not completely defined or changing; wrong decisions may impact one or several applications resulting in significant financial impact to the project.
Estimating project work effort as part of Wealth Intake or as applicable
Creating proposals for new technology when standards are yet to be developed.
Develop roadmaps artifacts for 5 Year business forecast
Develop design patterns artifacts to be used within Wealth Management Technology
Produce projects application design/integration artifacts
Provide input into governance/BMO/PMO processes and artifacts
