Senior Analyst, Capacity and Performance Management
Role Summary:
The Senior Analyst, Capacity and Performance Management is an expert in technical and process best practices for effective and efficient management of capacity and performance across the spectrum of technology platforms including: Mainframe, Unix, x86, Desktop and Storage. This role collaborates with IT teams across the organization to develop, measure and maintain accurate capacity and performance levels and ensuring service stability and cost effective use of resources. With solid all round experience gained in Enterprise environments, the Senior Analyst, Capacity and Performance Management has a critical role to play in helping to define and validate the principles, standards, guidelines, roadmaps, tools, processes and best practices.
This role is responsible for developing and delivering tactical and strategic capacity and performance frameworks.
Accountabilities:
? Clarify business and technical requirements with the business and other stakeholders
? Partner, collaborate and guide service providers (IBM) with the performance and capacity requirements of tactical and strategic solutions.
? Analyze key technical and performance metrics to identify trends, including analysis of the impact of new releases on current capacity
? Understand the demands for services, future plans for workload growth (or shrinkage) and influences on demand for computing resources
? Propose capacity related service improvements
? Plan annual capacity improvements and annual capacity requirements based on demand levels and future workload plans
? Publish capacity reports
? Provide recommendations for EI initiatives
? Lead capacity and Performance meetings
? Create, publish and socialize capacity reports
? Consult with 3rd party vendors
? Leads a team of technology engineering experts, who specialize in a specific technology domains or combination of domains
? Researches, monitors and communicates business and technology trends, as well as competitors' use of technology. Proactively updates and influences the use of technologies that will be of current and future benefit to the organization
? Communicates technology directions in order to share information on the business direction and assist in meeting client needs
? Provides specific technical guidance and counsel to ensure alignment with industry trends and internal ES strategies
? Provides platform expertise to IT planning groups and review boards in order to contribute to strategy development
? Develops and maintains strong working relationships with IT service providers and vendors to influence product direction in support of the organization's strategic direction
? Ensures advice and guidance is aligned with security and business continuity policies

? Expert in Capacity and Performance tools, processes and best practices:
? Real-time performance monitoring - gathers and monitors real-time performance data, sets thresholds and raises alerts if any of them are violated
? Historical data analysis that analyzes performance data to identify performance trends
? Capacity planning, which relies on data to predict performance based on simulations or analytical models that enable "what if" scenarios
? Performance tuning, during which the various components are tuned to deliver optimal application transactions
? Conversant with the application of Capacity and Performance practices across a wide variety of technology platforms including:
? Mainframe
? SUN/Containers
? X86/ESX
? AS/400
? Desktop computing
? Broad Multi Platform and Multi Industry experience.
? Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
? Expert in Microsoft suite of Office products
? Expert is developing presentation decks that effectively communicate complex technical details to a non-technical audience.
? Expert research, estimation and sizing skills.
? Advanced/expert coaching skills
Assets:
? University degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) or equivalent work experience, and/or 10+ years in IT industry experience
? Significant experience working in technical teams and in dealing with business and senior management & executives
