POSITION: Prepress Coordinator

Position Summary:
St. Joseph Media is Canada's third largest magazine publisher with brands including award-winning titles such as Toronto Life, Fashion, WeddingBells, Mariage Quebec, WHERE Canada magazines, Canadian Family, and Quill and Quire.
This is a full-time position in the Production Department and requires a candidate who is capable of preparing InDesign files for prepress, placing fractional ads, and administrating our prepress process/system for all of our titles. The Prepress Coordinator will coordinate proofs, track revisions, preflight editorial files and perform some ad tracking duties. He/she is also responsible for maintaining the prepress equipment, including an Epson printer and a Canon Imagesetter. This position may require non-standard hours as necessary, i.e. 10am - 6pm or 11am - 7pm.
Responsibilities:
• Assembling, placing ads and preflighting editorial pages for all magazines
• Trouble shoot any problems with images, colour swatches
• Monthly colour calibration of Art Department computers
• Traffic images to outside prepress vendor via FTP
• Maintain job records in FileMaker database, traffic editorial PDFs through prepress system
• Administrative duties for Ad Portal as necessary
• Cross-train with Production Coordinator and track ad material when necessary
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Previous experience with Adobe CS2-CS4 applications (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Familiar with a Mac OSX, Epson proofer, back-up systems
• Proven organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience using FileMaker Pro & Enfocus PowerSwitch an asset
• Ability to meet and manage tight deadlines
The successful candidate will have:
• Graduate of a Publishing/Media Studies program
• Previous experience in a publishing/prepress environment
• Previous experience working in a PDF workflow preferred
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Good collaborative skills, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
