Is your child is experiencing difficulty at school? Does your child have trouble completing homework and focusing in class? If so, I am only a phone call away and I can certainly help. I’m a certified elementary school teacher currently teaching Special Education to children in Grades 1- 8 at Parkland Public School and I am offering TUTORING services any time during the summer, after school and on weekends during the school year. I have a lot of knowledge and experience in working with children who struggle in school. I work with students who have various exceptionalities such as Learning Disabilities, AD/HD, and Autism and those who struggle with the curriculum on a daily basis. I am sensitive and caring to their needs, but most of all I know how to help them succeed in school.
If you are looking for a tutor, I can assure you that I can help your child’s grades improve. Your child will have fun working with me because I know many strategies to keep them motivated and I have a hands-on approach to learning. Since I am a certified teacher, I can appeal to a wide variety of learning styles and I have access to workbooks, textbooks and manipulatives that your child will enjoy working with. I even bring treats and prizes so that your child looks forward to our sessions. I can guarantee that I will teach your child the skills needed in reading, writing, math, or any other subject. I know how to assess your child needs and my ultimate goal will be to program specifically to your child’s interests.
The first session is free of charge. I will be happy to meet with you and your child and discuss your child’s areas of needs. The second session I will assess your child to see what level they are at and what we need to work on. During the following sessions I will either program for their needs or I can simply help with their schoolwork and I can even assign homework.
I specialize in teaching language so if your child needs help in reading or writing (particularly essay-writing in high school) I can assist with up to Grade 12 curriculum. I can also help with homework completion, note-taking skills, summary writing and various reports. My rate is $50 dollars an hour.
Experience and Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Law and Society and Sociology from York University
- Bachelor of Education from Medialle in Buffalo N.Y.
- Teaching for the past four years and have taught every grade from Kindergarten through Grade 8.
- Tutoring for the past four years, particularly for ESL students
-Special Education qualifications from York University
