The RCMI is a unique Canadian resource and utilizes paid staff & many volunteers to carry out its charitable activities within Canada. It curates a large military collection, library, archives and art collections. In addition, we have a beautiful dining room and several other rooms, used for regular dining, speaker events, seminars and conferences.
Basic Education Requirements:
• Completion of a recognized Culinary Arts program or equivalent.
• Red Seal Certification would be an asset.
• 4-5 years experience as a 1st or 2nd Cook.
Specific Skills:
• Prepares the necessary food items as directed by the Chef in accordance with RCMI standards and in a timely and efficient fashion to ensure that there is no interruption to member service.
• Control waste and spoilage in assigned kitchen area.
• Keeps work station, tools and equipment clean and organized including fridge's/freezers, countertops and stove tops.
• Ensures that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with RCMI and government Food Safety guidelines.
• Multi-tasking, detail-oriented; capable of working in all areas of the kitchen.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chef.
Reporting to the Head-Chef
The successful candidate should have a great passion for the culinary arts and an enthusiasm for training and development with our Kitchen team. The role entails the individual being independent, highly organized, creative and very energetic. This position requires commitment to continuous learning and should have a desire for constant challenge. There is also a great opportunity for advancement.
