Are you in limbo between college and working as a pro? Are you looking to do a lateral shift in your career? Get personal, one-on-one, higher-level training as a photographer, photo assistant, digital tech, or retoucher / digital illustrator, for free.
An award-winning, established, creative commercial photo studio / rental studio / gear rental in Toronto’s West Queen West district has a unique education / experience program. No, this is not a “get a free assistant” program. People who have gone through our internship have great things to say about the experience, and everything they have learned, and continue the relationship with us for years. We actually dedicate time and energy to explain things, and give you assignments catering to your abilities and interests. We have helped launch many careers.
There is no cost to the education, and there is no pay involved. You work it off helping with commercial work at the studio, testing and preparing high-end gear such as: Speedotron Blackline and Profoto Pro 7 strobes; Canon; Hasselblad, Mamiya, Fuji medium format, and Sinar / Betterlight large format digital capture equipment, being as involved as possible in the inner workings of the business.
A 400 hour minimum commitment (50 working days) is required, with at least 2 full days per week committed to helping us (usually 2-6 months). Then you can continue past graduating from the internship, and exchange your time at market rates for our studio and equipment rentals at market rates. Have studio access to the latest and greatest tools and space to build up your skills, and learn things that the schools usually don’t teach.

You need at least medium-level working knowledge of Canon EOS digital SLR’s, Photoshop CSx, C1 Pro 4x, and Mac OS X. Ideally looking for long-term relationships, and nurturing young careers, and selecting some stars from the program to go on to join our growing group of freelance assistants, digital techs, Photoshop artists, and photographers that we represent, or are on staff.
