I have a large painting by a well known Canadian artist: Wadie El Mahdy (1921-2001). It is a still life which combines oriental and modern French expressionistic and semi-abstract influences. It was executed in bold brush strokes and vivid colors. To add texture to the painting the artist applied a sponge to the wet paint in certain areas. The painting comes from one of the best art galleries in Canada.
