Research shows degenerative, bulging or herniated discs need to be separated and decompressed so that rejuvenative blood flow to the disc can be increased. The Digital Disc Regeneration Machine (DDR) which uses computerized distraction can achieve this effect. Our Digital Disc Distraction Therapy (D3T) with EMG biofeedback effectively enhances blood flow and water content to effectively regenerate and increase height of degenerative discs. This healing process provides helping pain and movement which enable most patients to regain their quality of life and return to active and productive living.
Discs sit between the spinal. For each pair of spinal, there is a notch in the above and a notch in the part below. The coming together of these notches forms a space which accommodates the vital and sensitive spinal nerves. The spinal nerves are direct extensions of the spinal cord, which in itself, is a direct extension of the brain. When the water content of the spinal discs decreases, they become thinner. This brings the spinal closer together and subsequently causes the space which contain the spinal nerves to become smaller. When this happens, compressive pressure is exerted on the spinal nerves which causes severe pain in the area of pressure as well as in the areas that the nerves transmit their messages to. People suffering with disc induced sciatica, for instance, will experience debilitating pain in their leg or legs. Degeneration of the discs or pressure on the discs suddenly or repetitively will often cause the water in the discs to bulge or rupture outward. This can also cause direct pressure on the spinal cord or spinal nerves with severe pain. Most people with disc herniations are actually in their 20s while most people with degenerative disc disease are in their 40s+.
With our Digital Disc Regeneration Machine (DDR), you can receive scientifically proven, effective treatment for disabling disc degeneration, bulging or herniation. D3T is especially effective for disc problems causing low back, neck, radiating leg & arm pain, and migraines. The decompressive effect is created by doctor-programmed, computerized, digitally-modulated disc distraction and positioning.
At the Trigenics Treatment Centre, YOU will receive the best care possible using the most advanced treatment methods and rehabilitation equipment. Our Digital Disc Distraction Device also utilizes Electromyographic (EMG) readings of target area spinal muscle activity during the treatment which are recorded and monitored. EMG Biofeedback retraining during decompression treatment is important as remaining chronic muscle spasm associated with disc conditions may otherwise cause some immediate recompression of nerves and discs following treatment. If this occurs, it can actually cause a worsening of the condition! After a consultation with one of the doctors, each patient is given a customized treatment program. The treatments are relaxing, comfortable and painless! The end result is that pain is eliminated naturally and more effectively than would otherwise be possible.
Stages of Treatment
Our unique Decompression treatment is divided into three major stages. All three stages are an integral part of this system to ensure the patients recovery is quick and successful. It is imperative that the patient follow the treatment as explained by the doctor. Patients may feel a difference immediately. The end goal is elimination of pain, and an increased quality of life.
Stage 1: Digital Disc Decompression System
The digitally programmed and modulated distraction forces performed by the computer driven device methodically create decompression of the spine and discs.
This allows a normal disc to receive the critical nutrition it will need to heal. This therapy uses a distractive force that is carefully applied with EMG biofeedback to overcome the patients ability to reflexively guard against the force for total relaxation of the spinal muscles. EMG biofeedback allows the patient to learn how to create a muscular relaxation response and it also allows the doctor to monitor and modify the computer settings.
The overall result is a very relaxing treatment. In fact, many patients read magazines or listen to music while they are receiving the digital disc decompression.
Stage 2: Trigenics Myoneural Treatment
The second phase to this system is application of the Trigenics neuromuscular enhancement treatments, which offers patients the unique combination of also resetting the way their brain communicates with their spinal muscles for retraining of spinal movement and stability movement.
In every patient with chronic lower back pain and/or sciatica, there is a decreased function of the cerebellum (part of brain that controls sensory and motor function of muscles). Stage 3: Neutraceutical Disc Supplementation
This is the phase of the treatment where the patient is provided with a prescription of disc regenerative neutraceuticals. Discs that have been damaged or deteriorating require proper state-of-the-art nutritional support for maximum height restoration and healing. Therefore, neutraceutical disc supplementation is an essential part of the disc decompression recovery program.

What conditions is this system used for?
This system is excellent for any type of neurological condition, or disc and joint problem. Conditions include herniated, bulged or protruding discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or pinched nerves (radiculopathy), and carpal tunnel syndrome. What is the success rate of this treatment?

Foot pain is one of the most common symptoms patients come into our office complaining of. How can we be suprised given the nature of our mobility. We stand all day, we walk miles and miles of our poor feet (this is a good thing!), we bounce, we skip and we skiddatle and often we pay for it.
Foot pain is most often due to repetitive strain on the muscles, ligaments, bones and tendons of the feet. We have arches to our feet whose purpose is to "shock-absorb". Commonly fallen or pronated arches will reduce the mechanical efficiency of each step that we take. The result is accumulation of stress, strain & tension. Eventually we feel foot pain.
Dr. Michael Horowitz helps his patients by supporting the mechanics of their feet by providing custom orthotic inserts. The results are often less foot pain!
Foot Orthotics: Foot orthotics take various forms and are constructed of various materials. All have the goal of improving foot and minimizing stress forces that could ultimately cause foot deformity and pain. There are three broad categories of orthotics: those that primarily attempt to change foot , those that are mainly protective or accommodative in nature, and those that combine control and accommodation. Orthoses is the base word and describes the items or devices that provide direct contact with a portion of the external body surface, rendering resistance to unwanted movement. All orthoses, including casts, are fabricated prior to or concurrent with being delivered or fitted to the person using them. Some devices are made or fabricated with specifications that derive directly from considerations of a single patient and are considered to be custom made. Other orthoses are prefabricated and are made to fit by sizing (e.g. small, medium or large).
Simpler foot orthoses allow the muscles, tendons and bones of the feet and lower legs to function at their highest potential. When appropriately prescribed, these orthoses can decrease pain and increase stability in an unstable joint, along with preventing potential progression or development of a deformity. Improved quality of life often results from the application of the principles of foot orthotics. In addition to providing for painful foot problems or an injury, those who may benefit from orthotics include people who must walk or stand excessively on the job. For those who are active in sports, foot orthotics will often increase endurance, performance and strength. For overweight individuals, orthotics can help to counteract the extra stress on the feet, as minor problems are often magnified due to the increased weight. Foot Orthotics are particularly effective in relieving foot fatigue and discomfort experienced by older adults, who may have developed arthritis in their feet. Orthotics may also be prescribed for children who have a foot deformity.
