You must to be a very old guy to have fought in the Korean War and risen to the rank of Officer. That war was in the nineteen fifties. You'd have to have been twenty just to be over there and at least thirty to be of any significant rank, (that you felt you could risk beating a lower rank enlisted man). So lets see thirty from fifty six means you were born in the nineteen twenties, that would put you in your nineties. That's the same as my mother, she's ninety six. Besides your not having been in Korea, or any war, the present situation is very different. Firstly the treatment of prisoners is already much more careful and humane now than in the previous conflicts you mention. Secondly the Liberal party of today, and opposition politics in general, is much less honest than in those times. The Conservative Party of old, i.e. before The Reform Party came along, was very little different from the Liberal Party, in fact there was really no difference. You are now in the party you should have been in all along, the party of dishonesty and middle of the road mushiness, the one that makes a claim to moral superiority and honour but itself doesn't honour the troops that represent Canada. It would just as soon use them their efforts and their sacrifices for spin and political gain.

You are wrong about Korea. Like I said we treated them like prisoners but that's all.
It sure wasn't day camp for them but it wasn't cruel either. And sometimes it was a chore
to keep some of the guys from getting carried away, but by and large we managed.

If you knew anything about war or soldiers, or even the population at the time, as you say you do, you would know that worry about the treatment of the men trying to kill him or her is the last thing on a soldiers mind and it ranks in importance along with the brand of toilet paper issued to them at the front. In other words worrying about the welfare of those who try to kill them is not keeping them awake at night. Also, at the time the no general populace was upset about the treatment of prisoners. Everyone at the time knew that this was a war and the usual standards of civil behavior didn't apply. I am old. I am retired. I am disillusioned.

For most of my years I have supported Canadian conservative parties one after another. There have been a few exceptions but by and large they could count me in.

When the upstart bunch from Alberta took over I supported them because they ought to be given the chance to govern so we can see for ourselves that they are not the big bad guys they were made out to be. When Peter McKay pulled the carpet out from the traditional red conservative party I thought this was a good way to consolidate people on the right.

War is a terrible thing. I was too young to be in WWII, but I remember Korea. It was awful. Horrible things occurred on both sides. But the one thing that kept us going was the knowledge that we treated our prisoners as prisoners, but more importantly as humans.

I admit my Christian roots and beliefs. And I have always struggled with the ideals set forth by Jesus when he said, �turn the other cheek.� In other words, don�t fight, but I realize that that isn�t always practical I at least clung to the saying Jesus said to treat others as you yourself would like to be treated.

Today, the governing party is being confronted by serious allegations that if true are considered war crimes. I am disillusioned that instead of immediately calling for a public inquiry they are choosing to shoot the messenger. Denying the allegations with accusations of the messenger being a liar while opposing an inquiry only adds to the feeling that they are hiding something.

The liberals did some slight of hand with public money and I hated them for it. But when the allegations against them were leveled the Prime Minister of the day, Paul Martin, had the decency to call a public inquiry into the actions of his own party. He therefore put the interest of the truth before the interests of his party and for this proud Canadian, I can say that he executed his duties with honour and dignity. He was standing up for what it means to be Canadian even if it meant that his party was assured of losing power in the next election. Honourable? Don�t you think?

The Conservative Party must act to clear the air. Unfortunately, the declarations of the diplomat at the centre of the controversy seem to have an aire of truth , which to my way of thinking may be why Peter McKay is trying to discredit him. If senior officials have nothing to hide, then show Canadians that their trust in you is well deserved by doing the right thing. It�s the Canadian way to be honest. And if the allegations are unfounded it will be an opportunity to rub the noses of those accusers in the dirt. Either way, being honest is honourable and being vindicated is political power.

Today I feel abandoned and lonely. Canada has a tradition of being respected around the world for being honest and honourable. Have we lost that? Do the right thing and look into this. There is hardly a more admirable quality than being able to look at one�s self, be honest about what we see, and make changes if we are falling short of living up to the standards we set for ourselves. The only reason I can see NOT to have a public inquiry is if the standards we have set are so low that you don�t wish them to be public because of self shame.

Liberal party, depending on what happens over the next few weeks, I may be over. You did wrong, and I won't forget, but you also did the right thing in searching for the truth, even if it did hurt you.

What was the alternative, Mcain and Pallin? City moves my car, tickets me for city's illegal parking job (The Annex)

The City of Toronto resurfaces my street, so on the morning of the work they tow my car around the block and leave it on the next street. Fair enough -- cars have to be moved.

Now, they don't tell me where the car is, but I go looking for it and (eventually) find it. When I do find it, there's a $40 ticket on it because the tow truck driver has parked the car illegally. I track down a policeman working with the resurfacing crew. He calls in to city hall and I listen to his conversation where the parking ticket is canceled. He says to hang on to the ticket in the (highly probable) case that the city screws this part up too. Turns out he's a wise man, because today, one month later, I get a letter from the city saying I can pay $40 for parking my car illegally or spend a day in court fighting the ticket.

So, once again, the wheels of municipal government are in motion. The direction, however, appears to be backwards.

I can't believe Mia Farrow is the only person in the world trying to bring attention to this situation.

After reading the disappointing article in the Toronto Star by Allan Fotheringham this morning I feel compelled to reply.

The Queen of England is God's representative on Earth - that is what Sovereignty means. Her son Prince Charles will be next in line to hold the title.
Prince Charles is a gifted visionary who has done so much to help not only England but the world. He is leading the way in his conservation work in guarding the planet's environment.

England is a beautiful country, thanks to his great interest in Architecture and beauty and conservation.

Britain sacrificed many soldiers in the war on Iraq, saving Canada's involvement.

The book "Gruesome Harvest," should be on the mandatory highschool and college reading list for history and sociology.

It is one of the few books that are available in English that address the murder of millions of non-combatant German civilians and German prisoners of war from 1944 to 1950 as a matter of deliberate allied policy not inefficient logistics as it is most often presented in school text books.

It is important because this book was written as it was still happening and includes comments from eye witnesses in the same time period. The book is not politically correct and shocked me because it speaks in a such a predudicial fashion about persons of the black race.

That however in this point makes it useful to sociologist and historians because it correctly reflects widely held opinion at the time within U.S. society.

As to the correct observation that allied policy was to reduce the German population through, murder in multiple forms, slave labor, and starvation, and destroy the fabric of the society through mass rape of the female population, other authors are critized for saying the same thing but only decades later.

Fact is there is a great effort to keep this information from the public because it shows that the victors of WWII incorporated not only military strategy and tactics but also the NAZI ideology of racial hatred and a policy of extermination and discrimination for one people.

Four million persons perished because of the ethnic cleansing carried out by, Russians, Poles, Czechs, and Serbs according to the former German Prime Minister Konrad Adenauer,

Five million Germans starved to death in occupied Germany according to estimates by the Canadian James Bacque, and 2 million German Soldiers died in allied captivity often while performing slave labor in Auschwitz like - and worse - conditions.

General Eisenhower prohibited the German Public from sharing their own meager rations with detained German soldiers on pain of death. Hence from 1944 until 1948 a U.S. and Russian Holocaust for the Germans was on going.

For more information on this topic see books by the following authors: James Bacque (Other Losses) (Crimes and Mercies), Alfred M. de Zayas (Die Wehrmacht-Untersuch ungstelle) and (The Nemisis of Potsdam), Guido Knopp (Die Gefangenen), Erich Kern and Karl Balzer (Allierte Verbrechen and Deutschen). A similarly important historical document is the book titled (Alliierte Kriegsverbrechen) which translates to "Allied War Crimes".

It is a collection of historical information of eyewitness experiences of hundreds of Allied war crimes.

This information was written down in 1946 by German Soldiers held prisoner in Camp 91 in Darmstadt by U.S. forces.

Lawyers for the defense hoped to bring some of this information as evidence and perhaps for mitigation to the N�remberg Tribunal but the it was not permitted. In fact the Commander of Camp 91 attempted to collect and destroy all copies of this book.

That is why it is important that as many people read the afore mentioned books as possible. They need to be translated into English and widely read so that the fairy tale of WWII as the last "Good War" can finally be put to rest.

I always used to wonder what it was about Jews that made people throughout history despise them. If they were indeed "God's chosen" I thought, they had to be the unluckiest people in the history of the world.

Why were they persecuted throughout history?

Why had the Nazis herded them into cattle cars and taken them to "extermination camps" to dispose once and for all of the "Jewish problem?"

I suddenly recognized that if Hitler had developed a "Final Solution" to the Jewish question, that there had to have been a "Jewish Problem." Could the Jews have in any way behaved in such a manner that would make the countries in which they resided turn against them, or were they just unfortunate, innocent victims?

I set out to find answers for my questions, mainly turning to the Internet, but also reading various books on the subject. What I found became increasingly disturbing to me.

I had not known that throughout history, the Jews had been expelled from 79 countries, some countries more than once.

I had not known that many of the claims they made about the Holocaust that I had believed unquestioningly for so long were in fact fraudulent.

The books I had read and the movies I had seen about the "Holocaust" and wept over were nothing but thinly veiled attempts to garner unwavering sympathy for the state of Israel and an excuse to extort billions of dollars from Germany and 1.25 billion dollars from the Swiss banks.

I discovered that a book I had read many times as a teenager and cried about, Anne Frank's Diary, had been at least partially written by someone other than Anne Frank.

I learned that the confessions at the Nuremburg Trials and the executions of so many German "war criminals" were were extracted under torture and the defendants were being tried, judged and condemned by their very accusers.

I learned about the "false flag" operations, especially the Lavon affair and the tragedy of the USS Liberty, an American ship that was attacked by the Israelis during the 1967 war. 34 young American men were killed and many more wounded.

To add insult to injury, the Israelis claimed that it was simply an unfortunate case of mistaken identity, something the survivors of the Liberty have always vehemently denied. They, however, were threatened with court martial if they were ever to tell their stories.

I learned about the Jonathan Pollard spy case and other incidents of Israeli Jews spying against their supposed "closest ally."

I became shocked and horrified as I learned about the treatment of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories at the hands of the Israeli Defense Forces and the Jewish settlers. Israel purports to be the only democracy in the middle east, but it's only a democracy for Jews. Non-Jews are not considered equal.

I was saddened to see pictures of innocent Palestinian children burned beyond recognition or suffering from serious gunshot wounds after being targeted by the IDF for no other reason than that they are Palestinian.

I found out about the Jewish history of avariciousness, larceny, lying, manipulation and their questionable and usurious business practices.

I learned about their roles in the radical homosexual movement, the radical feminist movement, the pornography industry as well as their over-representation in the abortion industry.

I discovered their role in organized crime, in the slave trade, in the civil rights movement and in Communism, an ideology that is responsible for the deaths of untold millions and the repression of many millions more.

I learned that it was Jewish supremacists behind the war against Christianity and Christmas. It is they who want God out of the Pledge of Allegiance and all symbols of Christianity removed from public life.

They have driven Christianity from the public schools despite Christianity being the majority religion.

They have taken Christmas out of the public school calendar despite the fact that it is a statutory holiday and it is named Christmas.

I read about the anti-Gentilism and hatefulness of the Babylonian Talmud and their utter disrespect for, and hostility towards Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary and Christianity and Christians in general.

I learned about their "chutzpah" in claiming that Gentile lives were worth no more than the lives of barnyard animals but that they considered Jewish lives to be akin to God Himself. It's okay to steal from a Gentile or to kill a Gentile, but Jewish lives are sacred.

I learned of their control of the majority of wealth, the media and academia despite them making up less than 2% of the population (even lower in Canada).

They are behind the ridiculous political correctness movement and hate crime legislation that was drafted so as to silence anyone who might figure out their agenda and attempt to shed light on it.

Men like German Rudolf, David Irving and many more, previously recognized as great historians, were arrested, charged with hate crimes and incarcerated simply for having made academic inquiry into a specific period of history.

Other so called "revisionists" or "holocaust deniers" have been intimidated, harassed, assaulted and smeared simply for trying to get at the truth.

I found out that the Jews are responsible for our wide open immigration policies that have created the nightmare we call "multiculturalism," "diversity," inclusiveness" and "pluralism."

It is mostly they who push for race mixing and miscegenation, knowing full well that it would eventually lead to those of white European descent being minorities in their own countries and the eventual extermination of white European DNA.

It is patently clear that the war in Iraq is due solely to Israel wanting to hobble her enemies by destabilizing their governments in order to achieve hegemony in the middle east.

It would be unthinkable for Israeli Jews to die for this cause, so they manipulated the US into the war with the help of the Jewish Zionist "Israel firsters" in the Bush administration in order that the blood of way too many young American men and women is shed instead.

It is they who control the middle eastern foreign policy of the most powerful country in the world, the USA. It is they who control congress, the senate and the puppet president, George W. Bush.

They have such control in movies and television that we are now subjected to endless programs and Hollywood movies that mock Christianity, Christian values and degrade the traditional family.

After sober reflection on what I had discovered about Jewish supremacy and Zionism, I had to abandon all my previously held notions as to the history of Jewish persecution.

What I have trouble understanding is why they continue this behavior in whichever society they live, knowing that eventually they will overplay their hand and their perfidy will be exposed yet again.Has history taught them nothing?

As more and more people become aware of what is going on and who is responsible for it, anger is going to rise as it already has in the former Soviet Union and eastern European countries.

They may control television, movies and the print media, but they don't control the internet. At least not yet. Blogs and websites devoted to "outing" the Jewish supremacists will ultimately be their downfall.

What is 'Holocaust Denial'?

In recent years, considerable attention has been devoted to the supposed danger of "Holocaust denial." Politicians, newspapers and television warn about the growing influence of those who reject the Holocaust story that some six million European Jews were systematically exterminated during the Second World War, most of them in gas chambers.
In several countries, including Israel, France, Germany and Austria, "Holocaust denial" is against the law, and "deniers" have been punished with stiff fines and prison sentences. Some Jewish community leaders have called for similar measures in North America. In Canada, David Matas, Senior Counsel for the "League for Human Rights" of the Zionist B'nai B'rith organization, says: [1]
�The Holocaust was the murder of six million Jews, including two million children. Holocaust denial is a second murder of those same six million. First their lives were extinguished; then their deaths. A person who denies the Holocaust becomes part of the crime of the Holocaust itself.�
Often overlooked in this controversy is the crucial question: Just what constitutes "Holocaust denial"?
Six Million?
Should someone be considered a "Holocaust denier" because he does not believe � as Matas and many others insist � that six million Jews were killed during World War II? This figure was cited by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg in 1945-1946. It found that "the policy pursued [by the German government] resulted in the killing of six million Jews, of which four million were killed in the extermination institutions." [2]
Yet if that is so, then several of the most prominent Holocaust historians could be regarded as "deniers." Professor Raul Hilberg, author of the standard reference work, The Destruction of the European Jews, does not accept that six million Jews died. He puts the total of deaths (from all causes) at 5.1 million. Gerald Reitlinger, author of The Final Solution, likewise did not accept the six million figure. He estimated the figure of Jewish wartime dead might be as high as 4.6 million, but admitted that this was conjectural due to a lack of reliable information.
Human Soap?
Is someone a "Holocaust denier" if he says that the Nazis did not make soap from the corpses of murdered Jews? After considering the evidence � including an actual bar of soap supplied by the Soviets � the Nuremberg Tribunal declared in its Judgment that "in some instances attempts were made to utilize the fat from the bodies of the victims in the commercial manufacture of soap." [3]
In 1990, though, Israel's official Yad Vashem Holocaust center �rewrote history" by admitting that the soap story was not true. "Historians have concluded that soap was not made from human fat. When so many people deny the Holocaust ever happened, why give them something to use against the truth?," said Yad Vashem official Shmuel Krakowski. [4]
Wannsee Conference?
Is someone a "Holocaust denier" if he does not accept that the January 1942 "Wannsee conference" of German bureaucrats was held to set or coordinate a program of systematic mass murder of Europe's Jews? If so, Israeli Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer must be wrong � and a "Holocaust denier" � because he declared: "The public still repeats, time after time, the silly story that at Wannsee the extermination of the Jews was arrived at." In Bauer's opinion, Wannsee was a meeting but "hardly a conference" and "little of what was said there was executed in detail." [5]
Extermination Policy?
Is someone a "Holocaust denier" if he says that there was no order by Hitler to exterminate Europe's Jews? There was a time when the answer would have been yes. Holocaust historian Raul Hilberg, for example, wrote in the 1961 edition of his study, The Destruction of the European Jews, that there were two Hitler orders for the destruction of Europe's Jews: the first given in the spring of 1941, and the second shortly thereafter. But Hilberg removed mention of any such order from the revised, three-volume edition of his book published in 1985. [6] As Holocaust historian Christopher Browning has noted: [7]
�In the new edition, all references in the text to a Hitler decision or Hitler order for the `Final Solution� have been systematically excised. Buried at the bottom of a single footnote stands the solitary reference: `Chronology and circumstances point to a Hitler decision before the summer ended.� In the new edition, decisions were not made and orders were not given.�
A lack of hard evidence for an extermination order by Hitler has contributed to a controversy that divides Holocaust historians into "intentionalists" and "functionalists." The former contend that there was a premeditated extermination policy ordered by Hitler, while the latter hold that Germany's wartime "final solution" Jewish policy evolved at lower levels in response to circumstances. But the crucial point here is this: notwithstanding the capture of literally tons of German documents after the war, no one can point to documentary evidence of a wartime extermination order, plan or program. This was admitted by Professor Hilberg during his testimony in the 1985 trial in Toronto of German-Canadian publisher Ernst Z�ndel. [8]
Auschwitz
So just what constitutes "Holocaust denial"? Surely a claim that most Auschwitz inmates died from disease and not systematic extermination in gas chambers would be "denial." But perhaps not. Jewish historian Arno J. Mayer, a Princeton University professor, wrote in his 1988 study Why Did the Heavens Not Darken?: The 'Final Solution' in History: ��From 1942 to 1945, certainly at Auschwitz, but probably overall, more Jews were killed by so-called 'natural' causes than by 'unnatural' ones." [9]
Even estimates of the number of people who died at Auschwitz � allegedly the main extermination center � are no longer clear cut. At the postwar Nuremberg Tribunal, the Allies charged that the Germans exterminated four million people at Auschwitz. [10]
Until 1990, a memorial plaque at Auschwitz read: "Four Million People Suffered and Died Here at the Hands of the Nazi Murderers between the Years 1940 and 1945." [11]
Is it "Holocaust denial" to dispute these four million deaths? Not today. In July 1990, the Polish government's Auschwitz State Museum, along with Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust center, conceded that the four million figure was a gross exaggeration, and references to it were accordingly removed from the Auschwitz monument. Israeli and Polish officials announced a tentative revised toll of 1.1 million Auschwitz dead. [12] In 1993, French Holocaust researcher Jean-Claude Pressac, in a much-discussed book about Auschwitz, estimated that altogether about 775,000 died there during the war years. [13]
Professor Mayer acknowledges that the question of how many really died in Auschwitz remains open. In Why Did the Heavens Not Darken? he wrote: [14}
�� Many questions remain open ... All in all, how many bodies were cremated in Auschwitz? How many died there all told? What was the national, religious, and ethnic breakdown in this commonwealth of victims? How many of them were condemned to die a 'natural' death and how many were deliberately slaughtered? And what was the proportion of Jews among those murdered in cold blood among these gassed? We have simply no answers to these questions at this time.�
Gas Chambers
What about denying the existence of extermination "gas chambers"? Here too, Mayer makes a startling statement: �Sources for the study of the gas chambers are at once rare and unreliable." While Mayer believes that such chambers did exist at Auschwitz, he points out that �most of what is known is based on the depositions of Nazi officials and executioners at postwar trials and on the memory of survivors and bystanders. This testimony must be screened carefully, since it can be influenced by subjective factors of great complexity.� [15}
H�ss Testimony
One example of this might be the testimony of Rudolf H�ss, an SS officer who served as commandant of Auschwitz. In its Judgment, the Nuremberg International Military Tribunal quoted at length from his testimony to support its findings of extermination. [16]
It is now well established that H�ss� crucial testimony, as well as his so-called "confession" � which was also cited by the Nuremberg Tribunal � are not only false, but were obtained by beating the former commandant nearly to death. [17] H�ss' wife and children were also threatened with death and deportation to Siberia. In his statement � which would not be admissible today in any United States court of law � H�ss claimed the existence of an extermination camp called "Wolzek." In fact, no such camp ever existed. He further claimed that during the time that he was commandant of Auschwitz, two and a half million people were exterminated there, and that a further half million died of disease. [18] Today no reputable historian upholds these figures. H�ss was obviously willing to say anything, sign anything and do anything to stop the torture, and to try to save himself and his family.
Forensic Investigations
In his 1988 book, Professor Mayer calls for "excavations at the killing sites and in their immediate environs" to determine more about the gas chambers. In fact, such forensic studies have been made. The first was conducted in 1988 by American execution equipment consultant, Fred A. Leuchter, Jr. He carried out an on-site forensic examination of the alleged gas chambers at Auschwitz, Birkenau and Majdanek to determine if they could have been used to kill people as claimed. After a careful study of the alleged killing facilities, Leuchter concluded that the sites were not used, and could not have been used, as homicidal gas chambers. Furthermore, an analysis of samples taken by Leuchter from the walls and floors of the alleged gas chambers showed either no or minuscule traces of cyanide compound, from the active ingredient of Zyklon B, the pesticide allegedly used to murder Jews at Auschwitz. [19]
A confidential forensic examination (and subsequent report) commissioned by the Auschwitz State Museum and conducted by Institute of Forensic Research in Krakow has confirmed Leuchter's finding that minimal or no traces of cyanide compound can be found in the sites alleged to have been gas chambers. [20]
The significance of this is evident when the results of the forensic examination of the alleged homicidal gas chambers are compared with the results of the examination of the Auschwitz disinfestation facilities, where Zyklon B was used to delouse mattresses and clothing. Whereas no or only trace amounts of cyanide were found in the alleged homicidal gas chambers, massive traces of cyanide were found in the walls and floor in the camp's disinfestation delousing chambers.
Another forensic study was carried out by German chemist Germar Rudolf. On the basis of his on-site examination and analysis of samples, the certified chemist and doctoral candidate concluded: "For chemical-technical reasons, the claimed mass gassings with hydrocyanic acid in the alleged 'gas chambers' in Auschwitz did not take place ... The supposed facilities for mass killing in Auschwitz and Birkenau were not suitable for this purpose..." [21]
There is also the study of Austrian engineer Walter L�ftl, a respected expert witness in numerous court cases, and former president of Austria's professional association of engineers. In a 1992 report he called the alleged mass extermination of Jews in gas chambers "technically impossible." [22]
Discredited Perspective
So just what constitutes "Holocaust denial"? Those who support criminal persecution of "Holocaust deniers" seem to be still living in the world of 1946 where the Allied officials of the Nuremberg Tribunal have just pronounced their verdict. But the Tribunal's findings can no longer be assumed to be valid. Because it relied so heavily on such untrustworthy evidence as the H�ss testimony, some of its most critical findings are now discredited.
For purposes of their own, powerful special interest groups desperately seek to keep substantive discussion of the Holocaust story taboo. One of the ways they do this is by purposely mischaracterizing revisionist scholars as "deniers." But the truth can't be suppressed forever: There is a very real and growing controversy about what actually happened to Europe's Jews during World War II.
Let this issue be settled as all great historical controversies are resolved: through free inquiry and open debate in our journals, newspapers and classrooms.

Bad Arolsen � Scholars studying the tons of documents left behind by the Nazi regime have discovered what appears to be an e-mail address for Adolf Hitler.

The address, adolfandeva@thirdreich.gov, seems to have been used relatively little since the end of World War II, but as expert Jean-Marc Dreyfus of Manchester University in Britain points out, �This was before the creation of AOL, when e-mail started to be used by everybody. Plus, Hitler would only have an old Enigma machine to send and receive messages, which is even worse than Windows Vista. Plus, he wasn�t much of a typist, so he probably doesn�t even think to check his messages very often. I wouldn�t be surprised to find that Eva [Braun] used the address more than Hitler did.�

So far, neither Hitler nor Braun has responded to messages sent to them at the old address, but researchers remain optimistic. �The messages haven�t bounced, so we know he�s out there, somewhere. I'm now positive that Hitler used the Internet to order the extermination of millions of Jews.�
