Job Summary:
The Systems Analyst will work within a small team of similarly-skilled colleagues to develop the overall high-level design of all of our products and focus on the delivery of a number of specific core services (detailed design through development and final integration testing). The ability to deliver pristine high-level design documentation is critical to this skill-set. This is a very collaborative environment with significant peer review. The ability to contribute and accept constructive criticism is key to the team's success. The candidate must be able to keep an eye on the big picture while delivering on a number of core services in parallel.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment. The candidate will design and take ownership of the delivery of tested core services into the overall solution. This is a technical position responsible for the delivery from start-to-finish of core services. The scale and complexity of the work will be commensurate with the candidate's experience.

Responsibilities:
• Define and document the system requirements specification based upon a thorough understanding of product specifications and business requirements
• Understand the system architecture and environmental constraints within which solutions must be delivered
• Define and document the technical high-level design. The architecture team will provide direction regarding established and approved design patterns and the scope of system components.
• Assign to and collaborate with on-site and off-shore (China) developers who will provide detailed design elaboration and execute the development of each core services
• Participate within the quality assurance review the detailed designs and delivered components
• Assist in the integration of the new components into the overall solution
• Provide assistance and input into an overall test plan and troubleshoot any defects uncovered during testing

Qualifications:
• University degree Computer/Software/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• Excellent communication skills -- both written and verbal along with an ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
• Proven, demonstrable leadership skills -- will be expected to lead the team through JAD sessions
• Strong background in JEE development skills -- Java Servlets, JSP, MVC etc.
• Strong modeling background
• Strong relational database skills (Oracle/DB2/MySQL)
• Strong Web-Services experience (XML, SOAP, WSDL)
• Ability to negotiate & build consensus
• Ability to train and mentor others in development methodologies and best-practices
• Must be reliable, pro-active, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details
• Experience with multiple development methodologies including RUP and Agile
• Experience with cloud-based solutions
• Experience delivering an enterprise-level service oriented architecture
• Experience using the Eclipse IDE and CVS as a source-code repository
• Experience using non-relational databases-- (Apache Cassandra)
• Experience collaborating in a geographically dispersed team (many of our team's developers are located overseas in China)
• Experience in contributing to corporate design patterns and development standards
• Experience in leading the troubleshooting of live operational systems especially within a cloud-based SOA
