It was a day during the end of August and it was just before your b-day weekend. Not sure why I did what I did because we were so compatible and always had a blast - and so physically into one another.

Firstly, like mentioned, it depends on what kind of relationship has been clearly established. If it’s intimate, than you can expect weird and quirky shit to be shared. Maybe it’s their process, who knows. And maybe they think so highly of you that they trust you enough to share it regardless of how kooky it may sound. You should be so lucky to have a partner willing to let you in and see all the good, bad and ugly. In truth it isn’t good or bad anyway, it just is. Additionally, nothing’s written in stone; the guy that just cut someone off on the freeway is the same guy that holds the door open for you on the way out the office door. Who knows? That’s kind of the point; all one needs to know is where they stand. Sure, that may be, ‘I don’t want to associate with this person anymore’ but why not just say so? There’s nothing wrong with that either. Perhaps you may not want to hurt their feelings or be perceived as harsh or uncaring, but why choose the other alternative of avoidance? What an inconvenience and awkward experience with that person at work every day. To really care would be to do just the opposite. To speak up says, 'I’m comfortable enough to share this with you because I need to do it for me.'

Whenever I’ve avoided someone or something, let me tell you, it’s not really the situation or those involved I’m avoiding. It’s my own reactions to the stimuli. The only thing we ever have to truly tolerate is ourselves.

OK, so they share something inappropriate, or clearly out of bounds for the kind of relationship. What a perfect opportunity to establish those boundaries with just being honest about how YOU feel whilst keeping it ‘professional’ enough to listen to where they stand to make way for some sort or mutual understanding to be reached about where each one’s at.
That’s life, it happens. We are constantly changing and learning who we are in this vast world including our and others’ boundaries. You just might discover something about yourself! It may not feel so pleasant and makes you cringe in disgust at first, but so what? Stick with it and you will be pleasantly surprised with what unfolds. It doesn’t have to be a big deal if you don’t want it to. If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter. At least you know you did the most honest to god best you could do by owning up to your own feelings on the matter instead of making about them.

So please, if not for another’s, for your own sake, set aside the judgements. We’re all in this world together and we’re all going to have opinions about others at some point, that’s ok, but they don’t have to influence us into a corner whereby our on-the-surface pleasantness isn’t really all that genuine.

Whatever the situation--especially a working relationship--if the person doesn't want to talk to you, then they don't want to talk to you. BTW it's called being professional, and it sounds as though there are things you should not be telling ANYONE.

The second part of the post sounds like some kook that I work with, who is always trying to make conversation with me, or create some sort of drama out of a work issue. Let me tell you, it's completely annoying. I think the person is a kook, yet I remain pleasant and professional to this person when we interact; I avoid this person when I can, without it being noticeable.
