This original Clay sculpture "FATHER & SON" is signed by the artist and "Canada" is impressed into the bottom of the sculpture piece. It is unglazed, fired clay stoneware with painted & glazed accents. It is from approx. 1980 and was purchased at the One-Of-A-Kind Craft Show. The artist specialized with her stylized portrayals of dogs in human scenarios.

The subject of this sculpture is as follows:
- A Father reading to Son: an adorable doggy father with his arm around doggy son; they are cuddled up reading an open book. Father is wearing a baseball cap. It is 5 inches high.

About MARION FRALICK BARTLETT : Marion Bartlett is a highly acclaimed professional artist who has exhibited her sculptures and pottery in galleries and notable art exhibitions across North America for over 25 years. She has received numerous awards for her commitment to the arts and the community, including Brampton's Arts Person Of The Year and The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. This is a truly lovely portrait of a lady in Victorian dress. It is 32" high and 27" in width, It has a beautiful wooden frame. The frame has minor issues due to its age which, in my opinion, are part of its charm. For an elegant lady who loves elegant things, this is the perfect gift. She is exquisite. This is a gorgeous, large print which is beautifully framed. It seems to have been painted from a wrought iron balcony. A bird sits on the railing and the flowers have a lovely poignance having bloomed and become subject to a soft breeze. The sky is a gorgeous blue - slightly aqua, actually, which highlights the flowers in a beautiful way.

Very, very nice. Measurements are 38" by 29". Lovely in a pastel coloured room.

China Yunjin has a history of over 1500 years with regard to the hand-weaving technology. Its wooden-loom Zhuang Hua represents the history of silk weaving lasting for over 4700 years. This is the traditional hand-weaving technology by means of human memory that cannot be replaced by machines, the only technology of its kind handed down to the modern times in a history of over 3000 years concerning brocade production. China Yunjin technology, always taught by hand and oral instruction, is handed down from generation to generation.

Among ancient silk fabrics, "jin" represents the fabric of the highest technology. China Yunjin epitomizes the brocade craftsmanship over the past years. Ranking first among three major kinds of brocade in ancient China, it was a royal tribute respectively in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Due to is connotation of culture, science an technology, it is regarded by experts as the last milestone in the history brocade craftsmanship in ancient China , publicly acknowledged s " oriental Gem" and a " Wonder of China"/ It is also one of the most precious historic and cultural heritages of the Chinese nation and the world.

China Yunjin is woven by a traditional Da HuaLoudraw-loom, 5.6 meters long, 1.4 meters wide and 4 meters high, through coordinated manual operation of a Zhuang Hua worker and a weaver. The draw-loom is made up of 1924 parts, Th Zhuang Hua worker, sitting on the top of the loom, is responsible for lifting the warp while the weaver, sitting under the loom, is in charge of weaving the weft, applying gold-threads and colors. As Yunjin was specially used to weave the dragon robes and official clothes for a long time, its production was conducted at all costs for perfection. As a result, its designs are featured by colorful varieties, big patterns, beautiful shapes gorgeous and bold colors, particularly golden colored, free color matching and changeable tints. The art of Yunjin has reached the peak since its craftsmanship has brought the hand-woven techniques to a point of perfection as well as the color matching and weaving techniques to a new height. The wooden-loom Zhuang Hua with hand-woven technology is the only remainder of that epitomizes the achievements of brocade weaving under this special condition. IN PARTICAULAR, Zhuangjin, Zhuang Cai and Zhuang konques Yu as royal utilities are featured by the three dimensional effect in relief and that their glamour of expressing the unique cultural and mental pursuit of Chinese nation, hence demonstrating the integration of science, technology and aesthetics.
